Medical Billing Specialist
Responsibilities, Skills & Requirements:
Entering clients and charges into billing and accounts receivable system
Insurance eligibility, verification and confirmation of Primary and Secondary insurance coverage
Maintain timely filing issues for insurance charges and follow-up collection
Communicate with patients on billing related issues and solutions.
Reconcile entries and run financial reports
Prepare memos/forms/correspondence
Follow-up on claims status through appeals, re-billing, recalculations or claims adjudications
Full compliance with Federal and State regulations and guidelines
Research and resolve client and patient problems
Maintain a high rate of client retention through quality service
Ability to read EOBs and understand insurance contracts
Must know Medicare, Medical/Medicaid, HMO and PPO insurances
Must have strong appeals experience
Must be familiar with payment posting, denials, and collections in various computerize billing systems
Strong knowledge of ICD-9 & CPT coding and medical terminology required.
Associates Degree or a combination of education and work experience required
Workers Compensation experience a plus
Excellent computer, verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal skills required
Minimum two years medical billing & coding experience preferred.
Must be able to type 40 wpm and 10-key by touch
Bilingual capabilities a plus
